Targretin is a retinoid. It works by inhibiting the growth of certain cancer cells.

Diarrhea; dizziness; dry skin; headache; loss of appetite; mild stomach pain; nausea; trouble sleeping; weakness.

Seek medical attention right away if any of these SEVERE side effects occur:

Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); bloating or swelling of ankles, feet, or hands; burning, numbness, or tingling; changes in vision; chest pain; chills; confusion; dark urine or pale stools; depression; fainting; fast heartbeat; feeling unusually cold all the time; fever; muscle spasms; one-sided weakness; persistent sore throat; red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin; severe or persistent headache or dizziness; severe or persistent nausea or vomiting; severe stomach or back pain with shortness of breath; slurred speech; unusual bruising or bleeding; unusual tiredness or weakness; yellowing of the skin or eyes.
