Effexor is used to treat mental depression. It is also used to treat certain anxiety disorders or to relieve the symptoms of anxiety. However, it usually is not used for anxiety or tension caused by the stress of everyday life.

SIDE EFFECTS that can occur while taking this medication includes abnormal dreams, anxiety or nervousness, chills, constipation, diarrhea, dizziness, drowsiness, dryness of mouth, heartburn, increased sweating, loss of appetite, nausea, stuffy or runny nose, stomach pain or gas, trembling or shaking, trouble in sleeping, unusual tiredness or weakness, vomiting and weight loss.
